Worshiping Together
Through worship – the heart and soul of the church – we experience the presence of God. We gather in the Sanctuary each Sunday morning to share our faith through Scripture, sermon, and song. We also create branches of our Family of Faith throughout our community – making new friends, enriching the quality of life, and growing in faith together. It is these special moments within our church family that we want you to enjoy as well.
Growing In Faith
At Sweeny FUMC, there is a Sunday School class for everyone. Children, Youth, and adult classes are committed to providing an atmosphere of Christian education, fellowship, and support. We also offer Bible studies that meet throughout the week, as well as seasonal studies and special enrichment workshops. Our Music Ministry invites all to join in making a “joyful noise to the Lord.” The choir meets on Wednesday evening at 7 PM.
Our Youth Ministry provides a secure environment where youth can share in Christian fellowship while being challenged to grow spiritually.
Living Our Faith
At Sweeny FUMC, we believe that every member is a minister…endowed with unique gifts and talents. As we share these gifts and talents, we enrich our lives and enhance our mission in the church, the community, and the world.
Church-Wide Programs
Vacation Bible School – Children, Youth, and especially our adults get involved learning and sharing in a theme story from the Bible
Fall Festival – Our Fall Festival that provides a safe place for our children to celebrate All Hallows Eve
Chicken Spaghetti Dinner & Bazaar – Now in it’s 52nd year, this annual fundraiser of our United Methodist Women happens the 1st Thursday of November. Handmade and specialty crafts are sold and the food is Great!
Children's Church - Children, nursery age - 5th Grade, leave the Sanctuary after Sonshine Club the 2nd-5th Sunday's of each Month to attend Children's Church. In Children's Church, the children listen to a bible lesson for kids. They also learn something about our Church or being a Methodist. Time permitting the children also worship God through Praise songs that they perform in Church on special Sunday's throughout the year.
